Master Sergeant Richard McPherson, USAF, a 21 year veteran, volunteered to serve during the Vietnam war. Serving with MAC V as an aircraft electrician working on F-4 Phantom jets, C-130 Gun Ships and Helicopters. He also taught locals how to maintain aircraft, especially the C-130s. Richard served on four continents across the world including Asia, Vietnam and Korea, England RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge, Northern Africa Wheelus AFB, and several other bases across America. He moved 18 times in 21 years.
MSgt McPherson served two years as 1st Sergeant at Brooks AFB, and President "Top 3 NCO Organization" for two years at Kelly AFB to advise the base Commander on all enlisted Airmen matters. After retirement he was the founding vice-president of Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 772, Gainesville Georgia. He was also a four year volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advisor (CASA) for the rights of children in Georgia and continues to be mandated to report any abuse to children.
Richard's father also served. Richard is holding his father's portrait in a few of these pictures. TSgt Jesse McPherson Sr joined the army and served in England during WWII, Iwo Jima and Asia. He volunteered for the Army Air Corps which became the US Air Force. He retired after 27 years and after retirement served another 12 years working with injured veterans at the VA Hospital in Tuscaloosa Alabama.
Richard's older brother Jesse also served in the Air Force at Benqua AFB Vietnam during the Vietnam war and after the war, in Alaska. All of Richard's 5 uncles also served in WWII. Most were in combat but none were ever killed in service. Thank you to Richard and his family for their service to our great country.
